The idea for Narrow Gate came out of a desire to offer the opportunity for individuals to come to Nicaragua for an extended period of time to participate in ministry here. Since 2005 we have done six-week summer sessions that include a mixture of Service in our various ministry projects with in depth Study of the things of God. The hope is that in our service to God's people and our study of God, we can grow into more passionate and dedicated disciples of Jesus Christ. The vision of Narrow Gate is to grow individuals into passionate disciples of Jesus Christ through Learning, Serving & Living in Community. It is geared towards individuals who are of college age or older that might be looking for a way to be involved in ministry in Nicaragua but at the same time have time to spend studying the things of God. The summer includes working in the different ministries of Open Hearts, Biblical seminar, "solo journeys" living in Nicaraguan communities, daily chores, discussion/study times, and outings to see different sites in Nicaragua. It is a great opportunity for individuals to grow deeper in their relationship with God.

This internship program is open to females who have (at least) graduated high school (note: knowledge of Spanish is not a requirement for this internship). This opportunity - to help girls who have escaped from lives of abuse, poverty, and prostitution - will demand your whole heart, but it will reward your whole life. Your duties will include taking care of the girls, helping with homework, cooking, cleaning, and above all, developing lasting relationships with the girls.
