The Buzbee family moved to Managua, Nicaragua in February of 1997. They began teaching English in newly established Christian schools and helping with poverty relief in local communities. However, through the beginnings of their life in Nicaragua they never lost their focus on the hope that one day they would open up their home to orphans and/or abandonded children. In the fall of 1998, God opened the door for their first child to come into their family, Moses. He was soon followed by Hope, Timoteo and then, the three sisters- Hazel, Yolanda (or Lola) and her twin sister Johanna (or Anna). Which made a family of 12, a full house!
God has hand picked each of these children to become a member of the Buzbee family from incredibly difficult situations. One child was left to die in the jungle as an infant; another was born into devastating conditions and by two months old weighed only four pounds, and still yet another was born with fetal alcohol syndrome, bearing the burden of his mother's addiction. All of the children are a blessing from God and it is a joy to watch them live out their lives, with the hopes that one day they too will grow to know the Lord and find their calling.
